http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=715600748"there was en e-mail sent out recently that told the students that next year they will be putting male and female grad-students on the top floor of woodland. integrating older males into an supposed all female undergraduate space. i for one am not happy that they are not only kicking out people that had already signed up to live there, but are now taking away the comfort of a safe space for women. the grad students already have 5 buildings on 5th ave, and are now also being put in the apartments of fickes and the top floor/s of woodland."more at the facebook pageMy question here is, is this part of a trend in women's colleges or small liberal arts colleges? I know there's a trend to make colleges more grad friendly, because they make the college money, but this seems to be a bit beyond the pale.
At Chatham? Ugh. That sucks. I'll pass stuff along to other alums... sometimes if we make enough noise- and pony up some cash the admin changes their mind--- what is the... genesis for doing this? In other words, why are they putting men in Woodland? Is it definite? Did the email come from the admin? etc
Either I got the email and accidentally deleted it, or else didn't get it because I don't live on campus, but there was an official email. Supposedly they're going to make it all secure, but I don't see how it's possible/cost effective to do so. As with everything the school has done over the past couple years, this is not being handled well by admin.
ugh how lame.
