Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I am a junior transferring to SMWC as an external degree student and I was wondering how registration for classes works. I can't seem to find a course catalog or anything. I am still waiting for my advisor to contact me about this. I am a planner and, at my other schools, I usually have every quarter planned in advance so, without knowing what the heck I'm doing, I feel a little lost. I feel like time is ticking away until the first day of spring quarter (April 8th) and I don't even know what classes are available to me so I feel like I won't get to go. I have a feeling SMWC is run a little different than the schools I have attended in the past. Any help?

Thank you. I thought only teaching students were required to visit campus. I was mailed a form and, on it, had the option of by mail registration. If that's true that I have to go there for the first registration, then I won't be able to attend unfortunately.

I have never gotten anything else in the mail from them though. I did the online orientation and payed my $50 registration fee. I have only been contacted by a transcript evaluator, and despite several emails to different people at the school, I have never heard from anyone but her.

How far before Spring quarter would you get something in the mail with a tentative class schedule on it?

Thank you for the catalog, hopefully that'll help me but if they pick your classes for you... I'm not sure how that works.

I'm majoring in Creative Writing and I have no clue who my advisor is, like I said, no one has contacted me besides a transcript evaluator.

They are on semesters? I thought my start date was April 8th though, that doesn't make sense for semesters. Maybe that's not my start date then? So I probably will have to wait until fall? I thought on the form I got it say Mid-October, late-January and beginning of April were the start dates. Could this be for something else?

Shoot, I just looked at the academic calendar and it looks like those were registration dates on the mailing I got, not class start dates. Dang. Funny because I totally emailed someone and said I really wanted to start April 8th and they said that the process would probably be quick enough for that the happen. :P

Thanks for all your help. I am registered for next month (statistics and intro to mass media) being a jr and taking intro classes sort of sucks but whatever. I am going to try and challenge the intro to computers class though. If it's too much of a hassle, I'll just suck it up and get an A. I just want to write... it sucks that half my time is wasted on genelec.
I completed half of my AA degree online through a local community college and 18 credits of my BA online as well. I just don't want to feel held back. Like I said, I just want to write.

So, you know what's crazy? I got my classes in the mail today! Ha! But, I still need to talk to someone there. Still waiting for an email from Gwen but I'm thinking it's time for me to call.
